Protein A gold

✔   Serves research needs

✔   Products with scientific potential

✔   Step-by-step support

Protein A gold is a versatile colloidal gold conjugated immuno-reactive typically used for on-section immunogold labeling. Protein A recognizes primary antibodies from different animal species. To cover the lack of binding to most monoclonal antibody subclasses Aurion developed protein G gold conjugates. Both protein A gold and protein G gold are available as conventional gold reagents only.

Immunogold labeling with protein A gold or secondary antibody gold conjugate

When using the immunogold labeling technique in immuno electron microscopy research applications, an alternative for gold labeled secondary antibodies can be protein A gold. In the “Sharing our knowledge” section on our website you will find more information on this subject. The origin of the primary antibody will determine if protein A gold can be used. Protein A gold will selectively bind the Fc region of antibodies in a 1:1 ratio. This makes protein A gold the reagent of choice in semi-quantitative immunogold labeling studies. Gold conjugated antibodies will in general give higher labeling densities as they are able to recognize more epitopes on a primary antibody.

Expand your knowledge on immunogold reagents and protocols

Learn more about the different applications for protein A gold and gold conjugated antibodies during one of the workshops we organize for researchers all around the world. During these workshops, you can bring your own specimens and primary antibodies to gain more theoretical and practical knowledge about the proper labeling protocols in immuno electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry. Order your reagents, such as Aurion’s ultra-small immunogold reagents, directly from our web shop and have them delivered to you within 3 working days. If you have any questions about our products, services, and workshops, do not hesitate to call us at (+31) 317 415094 or send an email to info@aurion.nl.
