A gold nanoparticle conjugated antibody or gold conjugate can be used in a wide range of applications being immuno-electron microscopy, immunohistochemistry, and bio-assays. The specific antigen or antibody of interest is visualized by the gold conjugate. This may be a one-step method having the gold conjugated directly to the primary antibody. In general, however, a two-step method is used where the specific primary antibody is detected by a second incubation with specific gold labeled (secondary) antibodies or e.g., protein A gold. Gold conjugate for use in immunoelectron microscopy and immunohistochemistry
In our product range, you can find gold labeled antibody conjugates with a variety of particle diameters. We have most specificities of gold conjugated antibodies in stock. Our conventional gold reagents are conjugated to gold nanoparticles in four particle diameters, ranging from 6 nm to 25 nm. The particle population is monodispersed. Minimal size variation and particle diameter overlap allows multiple labeling studies. These conventional-sized conjugates are the right choice for immunogold labeling when the antigen is abundantly present, when labeling sections or when the specimen offers good accessibility. However, the best choice for any application is that of our unique ultra-small gold reagents. As these gold nanoparticles have an average diameter of 0.8 nm or less, they have less influence on the adsorbed antibodies and behave as though they are uncoupled. This will have a positive effect on labeling density in general.
Custom gold conjugates
The standard series of Aurion gold nanoparticle conjugated immunoreagents is intended for the two and three step detection of antigens. Although these approaches cover most applications, there may occasionally exist a need for a direct label where the gold nanoparticles are coupled directly to the primary antibody or, more commonly, to a protein or peptide with specific binding properties. An example is found in collaborating with specimens where substantial amounts of homologous immunoglobulins are present. A further example is found in the detection of receptors through labeled ligand molecules.
Unconjugated gold nanoparticles
Aurion is specialized in the design and manufacturing of a gold labeled antibody and other covalent conjugation of gold nanoparticles and immunoreactive gold (macro)molecules for your research. We also offer you the possibility to prepare colloidal gold antibodies yourselves. For this option, we have different gold nanoparticle solutions in our product program.
